Where do we start?

Custom soap formula development process 

  1. Concept development: We will work with you to create an exclusive formula with the scents, textures, size, shapes, and colors you desire in your bar. We'd love to start with your existing ideas/blends, or we can help you formulate new ones. We can send a few free samples of what we do as a jumping off point. Click the button below and answer 10 questions that will help us get started.
  2. Initial Paperwork (Formulation MOU and NDA): We articulate the specifications of your proposed formula and cost estimate in an agreement just to make sure everyone is on the same page. We also offer a mutual non-disclosure agreement for your comfort and ease. The formulation fee is $500. 
  3. Custom sample batches: A trial run of your formula. We create a sample batch of your bars so you can try it out, and make tweaks if needed. Each "experimental" sample batch is $80 and can take 4-6 weeks, including cure-time.
  4. Manufacture Contract: Once you've tried your samples and approved a formula, we articulate the terms of our manufacturing agreement and move on to your first order!
  5. Deposit: A 50% deposit is required to begin all orders.
  6. ​Production: This is a good time to get packaging ordered and start having fun with that marketing strategy! 
  7. Shipping: Our pricing will include shipping from our facility in Tampa, FL to your facility. Currently we ship to all 50 states in the U.S.; and we're willing to explore options for international shipping and partnerships. 
  8. Reordering! Repeat from Step 5 because your product is so successful!

What about pricing? 

Pricing varies based on formula (especially essential oils for scent; some can be a bit "spendy" and we can help you determine this), bar size, quantity (soap prices and shipping costs drop with volume), and packaging options. Here are (loosely) two ways we typically end up approaching pricing:
  • Scenario 1: Bottom-Up. You have some ideas about the ingredients you want in your bar. Perhaps even some "must haves." And so we start there, crafting your formula, and providing pricing feedback as we go. Adjustments are made accordingly.
  • Scenario 2: Top-Down. You know the retail price point you want to hit and the profit margin you desire. So we "back in" to a formula that will give you what you want within those parameters. 
  • TL;DR most of our custom bars wholesale at $3-$5 per bar.

  • The average development time for custom soap is 3-4 months (steps 1-6, above)
  • Bar soap MOQ is around 300 per blend.
  • Lead time on an initial order (300+ units) is typically 5-8 weeks, including cure-time and shipping. Lead time on subsequent orders is typically 6 weeks (for order sizes 300 - 2500 units; may be longer for larger orders).
